Easy and inexpensive ways to prepare for fall and winter weather include weatherstripping and exterior caulk, inspecting the roof and clearing the gutters and getting rid of debris. Check the doors to make there are no drafts. If you find some, add weatherstripping. To start with the roof, check it with binoculars to make sure there are no loose shingles. A portable leaf blower will help clear the roof, and if necessary, put on some gloves and get a stepladder and clear out your gutters to make sure they drain properly when it starts to rain. Apply interior foam sealing tape and exterior caulk to fully seal all your windows and keep heat in during winter weather. Finish off by using socket sealers to keep cold air from freezing your pipes.
