In a small home, the more light, the better, so lots of small windows will create a wonderful sense of space. For storage, it’s best to consult with your builder in advance — many clever ideas for storage may not have occurred to you. For example, hiding closets in the stairs, or multipurpose areas that double as both kitchen and study, along with multi-function appliances. Often you can build a kitchen sink, range and dishwasher into a single unit to save space.
